About Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya
Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya Tamluk, also known as Tamluk college is a private college founded in 1948 in Tamluk, India. It is one of the oldest colleges in the district of Purba Medinipur. It provides undergraduate courses in the arts, business, and sciences. Tamluk College has been affiliated to Vidyasagar University. Since its inception in 1948–49, the college has been affiliated with the University of Calcutta in English, Bengali, Sanskrit, History, Logic, Civics, Commercial Geography, and Commercial Arithmetic. Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and awarded an “A” grade.
However, according to government policy, Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya affiliation in the undivided Midnapore district was transferred from Calcutta University to Vidyasagar University in 1985, and affiliation in honours courses was secured from VU in Physics, Zoology, Botany, Physiology, Philosophy, and Sanskrit. Self-financed courses in Geography, Education, Physical Education, and Computer Science have recently been launched.

- Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya hostels are the epicentre of campus life's undercurrents. The Boys' and Girls' Hostels house around thirty and twenty undergraduate and postgraduate male and female students, respectively. Admission is entirely on merit, and resident students are required to retain a sense of camaraderie and decency. Students who want hostel accommodations must apply separately shortly after acceptance.
- The institute has two common rooms, one for each gender. Both common areas have been outfitted with indoor activities such as carrom, chess, and table tennis. The girls' standard room, in particular, has a napkin vending machine. A female attendant looks after the girls' shared room. The services offered in the common areas are available to all students. It is an excellent area for all students to socialise and unwind.
- Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya has developed a health facility with first-aid capabilities for the preliminary treatment and health check-ups of our College's students and personnel. The College also gives a service of doctor-on-call in case of necessity.
- In an incident, the students are sent to Tamluk District Hospital (proposed Tamralipta Medical College and Hospital). Medical camps are held on a regular basis to provide students with free medical counselling. Seminars are also held to keep pupils informed about various health and hygiene issues.
- The motto of the Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya is 'Mens Sana in corpore sano,' which means a healthy mind in a healthy body. Based on this approach, a well-equipped gymnasium is situated on the college grounds as part of the RUSA project. It comprises fitness equipment such as motorised and manual treadmills, abdominal exercisers, twister exercisers, AB Crunch machines, health care equipment, fitness bikes, cross trainers, leg press machines, upright bikes, health scales, bicep curls, and so on. Students, teachers, and non-teaching employees of the College are permitted to use the gym. Trainers for the gymnasium are Physical Education Department instructors.
